A92 Dundee to Arbroath Dualling

The dualling of the A92 between Arbroath and Dundee is now well underway. Angus Council, in association with neighbouring Dundee, is delivering the ambitious road improvement project, which will see the busy east coast route become dual carriageway by 2006.

Construction work started in September 2003 and major progress has been made with many areas of new carriageway opened to traffic while work continues on the existing carriageway.

The eastbound carriageway of the new road between Upper Victoria and Heughhead Farm opened to traffic in March 2005. Although this section is substantially complete it will continue to operate as a single carriageway, with a reduced speed limit of 30/40mph, until the entire project is complete and open to traffic towards the end of 2005.

Along the route reduced speed limits are in force to ensure the safety of workers, some of whom must work very close to the live carriageway, and road users travelling through the roadworks.

The police will enforce these reduced speed limits until the permanent speed limits come into force when the project is completed.

Angus Council thanks all road users for their patience and co-operation as the project progresses.

The new road plans can be viewed online.
