.
In July 2000 a new statutory regime for the identification and remediation of contaminated land came into force. Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 was inserted by section 57 of the Environment Act 1995. Local authorities are required to draft a strategy to show how they will deal with contaminated land within their area.
This document outlines the actions proposed by Angus Council.
The council is required to consult with a number of defined bodies and is doing so directly.
It is also important however that local interest is considered and opportunity is given for this input.
You are therefore invited to send comments on the strategy to:-

Comments should be forwarded by Friday 5 October 2001.
