Project Progress Update - December 2010
High Street Projects
The repair and reuse of a number of priority projects were identified as very important to the success of the Townscape Heritage Initiative. Grant applications have now been received for all of these buildings and works commenced on three of these buildings in late 2010. Works to the remaining buildings are anticipated to commence in early 2011.
The buildings are as follows:
- 33 High Street - Building Repairs
- 39 to 41 High Street - Building repairs to two shops
- 45 to 47 High Street - Vacant Property Refurbishment - Works are out to tender and are scheduled to commence in February 2011.
- 29-33 High Street - Vacant Property Restoration - Subject to satisfactory legal agreement.
- 68-74 High Street (Merchant's House) - Works are scheduled to begin in February 2011. The works are currently out to tender and the grant is subject to approval from the Heritage Lottery Fund as well as successful acquisition by Kit Martin (Historic Houses Rescue) ltd from the current owners.
In addition to the priority Projects, grant applications for building repairs have been approved for:
- 51-55 High Street
- 25-27 High Street
Works will commence in early 2011 subject to satisfactory legal agreements.

Brechin High Street 'Gable Endies'. The majority of owners for this group of buildings (7 in total) have applied for THI grant funding with works either currently on site, or due to commence in early 2011.
