1. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS
The Council resolved that the public and press be excluded during consideration of the item recorded at Article 2 below to avoid disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, Paragraph 1.
2. POST OF DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
With reference to Article 2 (Angus Council, 16 May 1995) the Council interviewed three candidates who had applied for the post of Director of Education.
Having heard the three candidates, the Council gave further consideration to their position that they preferred Chief Officers to live within the Angus Council boundary or within sufficiently close proximity to enable them to respond to emergencies within an acceptable timescale.
After detailed discussion, and having been advised by the independent Personnel Adviser, the Council decided that in the event of them requiring a Chief Officer to move house to meet this condition, the Chief Officer would be required to reside within the Angus Council boundary. The three leeted candidates were advised of this requirement.
After further discussion the Council agreed that Mr James Anderson, at present Director of Education, Tayside Regional Council, be appointed to the post of Director of Education of Angus Council.
