MINUTE of SPECIAL MEETING of the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE held in the Town and County Hall, Forfar on Monday, 23 February 1998 at 2.32 pm.
Present: Councillors JACK GIBB, BRIAN MILNE, GEORGE ALLAN, WILLIAM CROWE, Provost Mrs FRANCES DUNCAN, IAN HUDGHTON, IAN MACKINTOSH, ROB MURRAY, GEORGE NORRIE, KATHLEEN RITCHIE, DAVID SELFRIDGE and ALEX SHAND.
Apology: An apology for absence was intimated on behalf of Councillor SANDY WEST.

1. PROVISIONAL REVENUE BUDGET 1998/1999
There were submitted (a) Report No 192/98 by the Director of Finance, being the Summary Progress and Background Report on the Provisional Revenue Budget 1998/99; (b) Report No 193/98 by the Director of Finance being the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume, including a commentary by each Head of Department; and (c) Report No 194/98 by the Director of Finance being the Departmental Savings Proposals Volume.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to note the Planning, Transport and Economic Development Provisional Base Budget Submission for 1998/99 as contained in pages 76 to 81 of the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume (Report No 193/98) and the savings proposals as contained in pages 25 to 26 of the Departmental Savings Volume (Report No 194/98) insofar as they related to Economic Development;
(ii) to approve the savings for the Planning, Transport and Economic Development Department totalling £83,000 insofar as they related to Economic Development; and
(iii) to approve the revised budget net expenditure for the Planning, Transport and Economic Development Department resulting therefrom, insofar as it related to Economic Development, and to advise the Council at the Council Tax setting meeting in early March 1998 accordingly.
