Review of Community Council Scheme

Approved Revised Scheme

A review of the existing Community Council Scheme has now been completed. The initial twelve week public consultation process (Phase 1) resulted in consideration of responses by the Joint Working Group at a meeting on 6th October 2009. After due considerations, a draft revised Scheme of Establishment for Community Councils was submitted to and approved by the Council on 5 November 2009 (Committee report 801/09 refers). The revised draft Scheme was subject to a further six week public consultation (Phase 2).

The period of public consultation ended with no representations being received in respect of the revised draft Scheme. Accordingly the final draft Scheme of Establishment of Community Councils was submitted for approval on the 11th February 2010 (Committee report 118/10 refers).

This final approved Scheme as detailed below will come into effect from the 4 October 2010 which coincides with the next scheduled Community Council elections.
