Who We Are
The Planning and Transport Service has a Natural and Built Environment Section which undertakes a wide variety of work in relation to the natural and built environment. Within this section there is a Conservation Team which deals with the built heritage of Angus and works together to promote the built heritage and provide Urban Design advice. The conservation team comprises:

What We Do
- Advise on development standards issues related to listed buildings and conservation areas
- Provide advice and guidance to members of the public on repair and maintenance of historic buildings
- Designate, review and manage conservation areas
- Identify buildings at risk and, where necessary, initiate action to ensure their survival
- Seek external funding for conservation projects
- Provide interdepartmental advice on built heritage issues
- Manage grant schemes for historic areas
- Promote our built heritage and environment and the use of good design through a number of projects such as Doors Open Day (every September) and the Angus Design Awards (every two years).
- Provide urban design guidance and advice
- Talks and guided walks are undertaken on request.
