Tayside Procurement Consortium
The Tayside Procurement Consortium (TPC) is the name given to the shared procurement service created by Angus, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross Councils, in association with Tayside Contracts procurement arm, to develop joint procurement for the Tayside councils. It is aligned to the national public procurement reform agenda.
It was formally launched in November 2007 with the aims of:
- Working Smarter - Working Together: The collective buying power of joint procurement brings economies of scale and efficiency. By working together to buy goods and services we can deliver more efficient business processes saving time and money.
- Making The Best Use Of Technology: Developing online systems for e-procurement reduces transaction costs for ordering goods and services.
- Saving Costs: Our target is to deliver substantial savings by introducing smarter procurement and more efficient business processes.
- Treating Suppliers Fairly: The TPC is encouraging private sector organisations to work better with local government. We aim to foster good relations between public sector buyers and suppliers of all sizes.
TPC comprises a Central Procurement Unit based in Dundee along with each of the area corporate procurement teams within the partner authorities, including Angus Council. All the teams are under the professional direction of the TPC Head of Procurement, Allan Harrow.
Tayside Procurement Consortium will work to deliver effective and efficient procurement for the benefit of the organisation and all its stakeholders. The Procurement team are working to promote and develop knowledge of the improvements that best procurement practice can provide.
More information on Tayside Procurement Consortium and its work is available at the TPC Home pages.
