Angus Draft Core Paths Plan

Angus Council has prepared a draft Core Paths Plan for the Council area, to meet the requirements of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. It is being issued for formal consultation for a twelve week period which extends from 25 April 2008 to 18 July 2008. It does not cover the part of Angus which is within the Cairngorms National Park; a separate plan is being prepared by the National Park Authority.

The Core Paths maps and accompanying text can be accessed by following the links below:-

(NOTE: Most of the following files are very large. They will take a long time to download on a slow Internet connection.)

At this stage comments and/or objections are invited. The Plan cannot be adopted until any objections are resolved. Where objections remain unresolved a Local Inquiry may be organised by the Scottish Government to resolve matters.

We would very much value your further assistance. If you have any comments or objections you can submit these by filling in the comments/objections form (MS Word Format (80 KB)/PDF Format (45 KB)) (please read the additional information on page 3 of the Plan, headed 'How to comment on this Plan'). If you would like to comment please do so by 18 July 2008.

The plan is also available to view at the following Council offices and libraries from 25 April 2008 to 18 July 2008.

Strategic Environmental Assessment

The Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 requires that a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) be carried out to assess the environmental impact of strategies or plans developed by the public sector. The Council has carried out an SEA for the Core Paths Plan, taking into account aspects of the environment including impacts on water, biodiversity, cultural heritage, landscape and human health. Consultation on the SEA Environmental Report is being undertaken at the same time as consultation on the Draft Core Paths Plan.

The Environmental Report can be viewed at the locations listed above, or by following the links below:
