Doors Open Day 2011

Share |

Angus Council has this year continued its involvement in Doors Open Day, which is held throughout Scotland on varying weekends throughout September. This is Scotland's contribution to "European Heritage Days" and sees the simultaneous opening of thousands of buildings across Europe.

Doors Open Day allows members of the public the opportunity to see inside some buildings that are not normally accessible. It gives people the opportunity, free of charge, to take a look at some of the cultural and historical buildings that Angus is lucky enough to be home to.

Doors Open Day continues with the opening of 15 buildings. This year will see the return of previous favourites including; Hospitalfield House, Kinnaird Castle and the Arbroath Royal Observer Corps Monitoring Post. It also sees the first opening of the Airlie Monument and Cortachy Castle. Unfortunately a couple of the favourites have been unable to participate this year but there are still lots of buildings for you to explore.

Please note that this year the Doors Open Day event is covering a number of dates to allow for building organisers to be able to participate so please check the opening date and time of individual buildings you wish to see. Remember some buildings are by booked tours only and therefore you are asked to check the individual building by clicking on the links below.
