Proxy Voting

If you are registered to vote but can't vote in person, you can apply to vote by proxy. That means someone else votes on your behalf.

You can apply for a proxy vote for a particular election, for a set period of time or for all future elections.

You have to provide a reason for needing a proxy vote. For example, maybe you can't get to the polling station on election day because:

The deadline to request a new proxy vote for the UK Parliamentary Election is Tuesday 27 April 2010 (except on grounds of a medical emergency, where an application can be made at a later date on production of a medical certificate.)

The deadline to change or cancel an existing proxy appointment is Tuesday 20 April 2010.
