Severe weather has the potential to cause danger to life or widespread disruption to communications or transportation. The Met Office provides information through their National Severe Weather Warning Service and you can sign up for free email alerts to keep up to date with weather warnings on their website at National Severe Weather Warning Service.
The Met Office also offers advice on precautions to take during periods of severe or hazardous weather.

Flooding
The prime responsibility for protecting property from flooding lies with the property owner. The Council cannot prevent flooding occurring and whilst the council has no statutory duty to help property owners the council will assist during flooding incidents where and when it can, but has a limited number of people available and will prioritise its assistance towards those areas and people considered most in need. Please contact ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
The Council can advise and possibly assist with longer term flood prevention and anyone wishing to discuss such matters should contact the Roads Division by calling ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
Flood warning information is available from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency website or on their FLOODLINE 0845 988 1188.
