5. Archiving Policy
In terms of Section 53 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 and the Code of Practice issued under Section 61 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, we must make proper arrangements for the preservation and management of the Council's records.
Specific archiving policies and document retention periods are currently being reviewed by the Council. It is anticipated that these will be finalised by the end of 2004. These documents will fall within "Corporate" (Policies, Plans and Strategies) under "Your Council" in Part B. Certain documents (such as the official Minutes of the Council and its committees) may be of historical or archival significance and are retained by the Council indefinitely.
