Surplus Office Furniture Disposal
What's it all about
Between January and July 2007 Angus Council will be undertaking a programme of employee moves to:
- take up occupation of its new Headquarters building, Angus House
- vacate St. James House which has been sold and
- relocate employees to other offices to suit the needs of the new departments which have been introduced in August 2006
After ten years of use, Angus Council is taking the opportunity to review the suitability of its current office furniture. Decisions are being made, where appropriate, to replace items which are no longer suitable for use due to the nature of the office being moved in to or because of their condition.
An amount of office furniture, including storage items, will therefore become surplus to council requirements and it has been decided, as part of Angus Council's commitment to sustainable best practice, that these items will be made available for "gifting" to organisations and groups who contribute to the improvement of the Angus community.
Eligibility
To be eligible to bid for any of the surplus office furniture items being made available by Angus Council you must be:
- a registered charity or
- a recognised youth association or
- a community group recognised by Angus Council or
- a recognised voluntary or
- any other non-profit body located within Angus
How will this be managed
From 1st February, this website will provide inventory lists, as shown below, for interested eligible organisations and groups to review and decide what items they wish to bid for.
Inventory lists will expire after 30 calendar days and any items which remain "ungifted" at that tie will be disposed of. The inventory list will be revised continuously as more surplus items become available.
Bids will be considered on a first come basis, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, and bidders will receive prompt notification of the outcome of their bid and details of the contact arrangements, opening hours and location of the store.
Bidders will not be able to visit the store to inspect goods prior to bidding but will have the opportunity of rejecting items found to be unsatisfactory when being collected.
The inventory will be adjusted to show the balance available as items are “gifted”.
All successful bidders will be required to remove their items within 7 days of receiving such notification otherwise the items will be withdrawn and offered to others. Evidence which confirms eligibility must be provided before items will be released.
Angus Council reserves the right to choose who will, or will not, be successful in any bids submitted.
Location
All items will only be available from a store located in Forfar.
