Notice of a Forfar masonic meeting
In MS 701, a miscellany of Forfar documents collected by former Forfar librarian Ernest Mann, is a beautiful notice to attend a masonic meeting at the Ancient Lodge of Forfar Kilwinning no. 90. The notice features a wealth of masonic imagery including pillars, an eye, a chequered floor, building implements and a turreted castle. The original printing plate was carved by local watchmaker William Don, who may also have been a member of the Lodge. The plate was recently returned to the Lodge during the 2001 Doors Open Day event.
