You will get more out of your time at Angus Archives if you plan ahead before you visit. If you are researching your family history please come prepared with some basic data such as names, places and dates. See Getting Started for further advice. Please be aware that while the Angus Archives collection is extensive, some records are held in Edinburgh eg sheriff court records, church records including kirk session minutes, or in London eg military and emigration records.

Please give yourself plenty of time to conduct your research. It can take time to search, order and use your material. Take account of the extra time required to read old handwriting. You may want to look at the Scottish Archive Network online tutorials for documents 1500-1700 at www.scottishhandwriting.com
