Historic Buildings
Angus has a rich heritage of 18th, 19th and 20th century architecture. Its towns are well preserved and reflect medieval patterns of settlement. The villages are unspoiled and full of character.
Each of the main towns has a heritage trail which you can follow showing many interesting buildings and features. These can be purchased in the libraries and museums.
We aim to present some of Angus’ rich architectural heritage from the glory of Arbroath Abbey to more humble and functional buildings. We will look at castles, cathedrals, market crosses, an artist’s studio, Town Houses, churches and industrial buildings amongst others, taking you on a tour of Angus from the 13th century to the present day.
