Angus Photographic Collection
The Angus Photographic Collection held in Angus Archives is an extensive photographic archive of over 15,000 images of Angus people, places and events. The images range in date from Victorian carte de visites and lantern slides, Edwardian postcards through to digital prints from the present day. They cover every aspect of Angus life: work, recreation, events, places, buildings, landscapes, people and more.
Angus Archives has started the long process of cataloguing and scanning the collection to make it more easily available. To show what has been done so far, we will offer a PDF snapshot of work scanned to date, periodically updated. Some of the Galleries are large and may take a few minutes to download.
We do not scan images currently in copyright, so many photographs and postcards are not represented. All items currently catalogued can be accessed in the Archive search room through the CALM database. The main photographic collection is MS747 but many images are to be found in other archival collections too such as Arbroath material in MS545 the William Coull Anderson collection and Brechin material in MS924 Glass Lantern Collection.
Further donations are always welcome.
Copies of all photographs may be purchased.
