About this collection

The Meffan Museum and Art Galleries are the repository for Angus Council’s Fine Art Collection. Works by artists such as George Paul Chalmers, James Irvine, William Lamb and David Waterson are regularly exhibited in our galleries throughout the county, and a fine collection of the work of James Watterston Herald is on permanent display in the stairwell gallery.

Within the Meffan two galleries are dedicated to art exhibitions. Gallery Two on the first floor regularly exhibits work from the Angus Council Reserve Collection with at least six exhibitions taking place throughout the year. While in Gallery One on the Ground Floor, ten exhibitions are held annually which cover a wide range of contemporary and traditional styles.
