Care Centre and Supported Housing

Angus Council is investing in an exciting new development for older people located in the heart of Carnoustie, on the site of the former Kinloch Primary School.

The overall design philosophy has been to provide an integrated layout encompassing a care centre and "state of the art" supported housing complex. In addition there are 10 new council houses for rent being constructed elsewhere on the site providing energy efficient family homes.

Throughout, the care centre and supported housing complex has been designed to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and sustainability, including enhanced insulation, biomass district heating, photovoltaic electric cells, solar water heating and localised rainwater harvesting and meets the needs of people with sensory impairment or dementia.

Built at the heart of the town, this exciting new development will enable older people in Carnoustie to maintain their independence and continue to play an active role in the life of the wider community.

The development is expected to open in early 2013.
