Monikie Country Park, with its reservoirs, woodland and parkland, is an ideal location for a visit to the countryside. The scenic surroundings offer many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors at any time of the year. The Park is staffed during most daylight hours.

Facilities

Picnic & BBQ facilities are available all year. Large parties should book in advance.

During the summer a large marquee is available to hire.

Situated within a woodland setting is an adventure play park.

Parking, toilets, Ranger Centre, picnic facilities, bird hide & trails are all accessible to wheelchairs.

Outdoor Activities

Windsurfing Raft building Climbing wall

Water Sports, High and Low Ropes, Team Building Activities and Environmental activities for all ages are a feature of the Monikie Country Park Adventure Activities programme 2009/2010 (2.7 MB PDF) which includes guided walks, construction of nest boxes and feeders, management for nature conservation, crafts, slide shows and displays. For any Ranger-led activities it is necessary to book in advance.

During the school holidays the Ranger Service run exciting activity days for children of all ages.

Orienteering courses suitable for groups and individuals of all ages whilst younger children can try Animalteering.

Self-guided Trails - a variety of self-guided trails can be collected at the visitor centre.

Holiday activities

Environmental Education

Nursery, Primary, Secondary classes, Colleges, Universities and Community Groups are welcome all year. Countryside Rangers are available to lead fieldwork activities and visit schools where Teachers can discuss ideas for projects.

Groups and individuals are regularly involved with the Rangers in conservation projects, orienteering or badge work. The rangers are happy to visit organisations and give illustrated talks.

Angling

Between March and October Monikie Angling Club provides Fly Fishing for stocked Rainbow and Brown Trout at Monikie and Crombie Country Parks. The Club has boats to let for members and visitors. Please note that bookings cannot be made through the Country Park Offices. Bookings can only be made through the Duty Bailiff, telephone 01382370300. Visit the Angling page for more details.

Donations at other times are welcome. All income goes directly to the Country Parks and helps to maintain the facilities and provide for a range of FREE SERVICES.

Charges will be levied at a concessionary rate for:

Proof of status may be required.

All watersports users must be able to swim over 25 metres.

Anyone wishing to hire windsurfing equipment, kayaks or sailing dinghies at Monikie should book in advance to make sure places are available, tel: 01382 370202.

Customers hiring equipment must arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to the hire period. Hire is on the hour. Instruction can be arranged outwith stated times for groups. Phone 01382 370202 for details.
