Further Consultation on Carnoustie High School

As part of its commitment to improve schools in Carnoustie, Angus Council is to consult on new proposals for the burgh's high school.

Following consultation with parents, pupils, staff and school communities in the town, the council has already agreed in principle to the provision of new primary schools in the town.

Originally the council's intention had been to refurbish Carnoustie High School, but on further investigation it is now envisaged that a new teaching block will be built on the current site, with the existing theatre and sports block being retained.

Local people are being urged to give their views on this new proposal. Parents/Carers have been formally notified of the proposals and asked to complete and return a questionnaire. A public meeting is also planned for Tuesday 14 September 2004 in Carnoustie High School theatre and Council representatives will attend the meeting to answer any questions.

Full details of the proposals are available on the council's website at www.angus.gov.uk/hys, where a form for comment is available on-line.
