Fun in Athletics - Angus Final 2006
As part of a National programme, Angus Council Sports Development Team hosted five Fun in Athletics festivals across Angus during November. The five winning teams from these cluster festivals came together at Lochside Leisure Centre, Forfar on Wednesday 6th December to contest the Fun in Athletics - Angus Final 2006.
Teams of up to 15 boys and 15 girls in P6/7 of Chapelpark (Forfar), Timmergreens (Arbroath), Borrowfield (Montrose), Carlogie (Carnoustie) and Seaview (Monifieth) Primary Schools qualified for the Angus Final during which the children competed as a team in various relay races, javelin, speed bounce, standing long jump, standing triple jump and vertical jump events.

Fun in Athletics is designed to give children an introduction to athletics through lots of fun track and field events in a team-based environment. The Angus Final is the conclusion of the Angus Fun in Athletics programme for 2006 and the top two teams from the Angus Final will now go on and represent Angus in the Tayside Final alongside teams from Dundee and Perth & Kinross. The Tayside Final is taking place at Next Generation Clubs, Monifieth on Monday 22nd January 2007.

Environmental & Leisure Services Vice Convener, Cllr Iain Gaul presented Chapelpark Primary School with their trophy as the winning school and Borrowfield Primary School will join them in representing Angus at the Tayside Final. Good luck to both schools!!
The Fun in Athletics programme has been organised as a partnership between Angus Council Sports Development Team, Active Schools, SportTayside & Fife and Angus College who provided students to assist with the festivals.
