Come To Montrose Museum To See The Green Train Running!
There’s a rare chance to see the famous Green Train run at Montrose Museum next week.
The Green Train model was bought by Lord Panmure, benefactor of Montrose Museum, in Switzerland in the 1840s.
It has been a favourite exhibit at the museum for several generations of the local community.
Conservation work has restored the model to full working order, although it is only operated occasionally to prevent wear.
The structure is both intricate and delicate and is made of wood, paper and paper-mache.
The scene is believed to depict Montrose and Arbroath Abbey, with connecting suspension bridge.
The train will be up and running on Thursday 28 December at 11am, 2pm and 3.30pm.
Montrose Museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm.
