Benefits Calculator For Older People Gets An Update

An online calculator giving an easy benefit entitlement check for older people is now better than ever.

Angus Council’s welfare rights team has joined up with Glasgow City Council, Rights Advice Scotland and the Pension Service to improve their benefits calculator.

The calculator can be used online and can now be accessed via the Rights Advice Scotland website, www.rascot.co.uk/pc by older people across Scotland.

The calculator can check entitlement to Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit and is easy to use and asks a series of questions before providing a result on likely entitlement.

It has been designed not to store information so there is no possibility of others viewing personal details.

The calculator will check entitlement and print out the results for future reference. This print out can also be used to check against any amount received.

In addition where there is a possible entitlement to benefits the new calculator allows contact to be made with the local Pension Service via email to request a home visit to help with the necessary forms completion.

Councillor Ruth Leslie-Melville, Social Work and Health Convener, said: “Angus Council is committed to ensuring that all older people in Angus receive their full entitlement to welfare benefits. This calculator is another step towards ensuring that we reach this goal

“The council’s welfare rights team remain in the forefront of providing quality advice to the citizens of Angus and by joining with our partner organisations we have been able to provide this calculator via the web. I congratulate the welfare rights service and our partners Glasgow City Council, Rights Advice Scotland and the Pension Service for their innovative contributions.”
