Planning Paperwork Back Online
Members of the public in Angus will be able to view planning applications forms, drawings and certain other documents online again, following their removal from the internet earlier last month by the council.
The online facility to view planning documents was withdrawn following a letter to all local authorities from the Information Commissioner pointing out that sensitive information contained in planning documents, including signatures and private telephone numbers, could not be displayed.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: "Following this ruling, Angus Council removed personal information attached to planning applications from the online site and began the process of editing out sensitive details and signatures. The full paperwork was still made available to those who called in person to view the applications.
"We now have application forms and drawings from 31 October onwards available on the website, complying with data protection regulations. We hope that by March 2008, new computer software will be installed which will allow us to display almost all documents on line as before, minus certain personal information."
