Buses Highlight Doorstoppers Campaign Message

Stagecoach buses in Angus are now carrying messages designed to improve awareness of the Doorstoppers campaign, an initiative to crack down on unwanted doorstep sellers and the crimes which some of them commit. The scheme helps protect the elderly and vulnerable from unscrupulous doorstep sellers

Angus Council Trading Standards launched the Doorstoppers campaign in partnership with Angus Care and Repair, Tayside Police and Neighbourhood Watch scheme.

Angus Council convener of Infrastructure Services David May said: “We welcome the publicity which will be achieved through bus advertising for this important campaign. Any householder who wants advice or door stickers about dealing with unwanted doorstep sellers is urged to contact Trading Standards on 01241 435 600 for advice or a door sticker.”

“This campaign’s aim is to protect the residents of Angus and vulnerable consumers in particular, from bogus sellers, pushy salespeople and other types of doorstep crime. Consumers are empowered and given the confidence to say “no” to doorstep sellers, to help them feel safe and secure in their own home.”

The campaign is supported by Angus Council Trading Standards, Social Work and Health; Tayside Police, Tayside Fire Service and the Neighbourhood Watch scheme
