City Of Brechin Townscape Heritage Initiative Highlights Grants Scheme
The City of Brechin THI will leaflet property owners in the historic heart of the town in order to highlight a small grants scheme to help with the cost of building repairs.
Buildings in the High Street and Swan Street may be eligible for repair grants under a scheme to regenerate the old part of the town, and leaflets detailing the small grants scheme will shortly be distributed to properties on these streets.
The grants are available through the townscape heritage initiative and conservation area regeneration scheme, jointly funded by Angus Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland (Historic Environment Regeneration Fund).
Building repairs and architectural reinstatement will potentially qualify for grants, subject to certain conditions. The buildings must be of traditional construction and will be required to be repaired using traditional materials. All grants will be subject to the availability of money from the fund.
Potential applicants should contact the Project Manager, Sarah Kettles, at the Brechin THI office at 32 Panmure Street tel: 01356 623488 to discuss eligibility, seek advice or book an appointment before submitting applications. Further information and application forms for grants are available from the Angus Council website at: www.angus.gov.uk/brechinthi. Application forms can also be picked up from the THI office.
Bob Myles, chairman of Brechin THI said: “It is important that everyone who can potentially apply for grant funding from the THI is made aware of the scheme. We hope that those people who as yet have not been aware of the scheme will be through the leaflet scheme. We will first target properties at the north end of the High Street and Swan Street as these buildings are in the heart of the city centre and their appearance makes a lasting impression on visitors and local residents alike.”
