Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney MSP visited Angus yesterday Tuesday, 22 July to sign the Single Outcome Agreement which sets out how each area in Scotland will deliver services in line with local needs and national priorities.

Leader of Angus Council Bob Myles welcomed the agreement saying: “The Single Outcome Agreement between the Scottish Government, Angus Council and our partnership bodies should allow us to deliver the best quality of service to the people in Angus. I am very pleased to be signing this agreement not only for Angus Council but on behalf of the wider Angus Community Planning Partnership. I am delighted that we have reached this partnership agreement a year ahead of schedule because of the good working relationship and co-operation with our partners.”

The Leader also welcomed the Minister’s open approach to discussing various issues affecting Angus Council.

John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, said:

"The Single Outcome Agreement approach is a real step forward in the way in which national and local government’s work together. It signals a new relationship with local government, one which removes the unnecessary bureaucracy of the past to allow councils and their community planning partners to give greater priority to the services local communities want and need.

“Today’s signing gives the council more freedom than ever before to deliver for the people of Angus and everyone is set to benefit as a result. It is an excellent example of the focus that we can get by bringing together key public sector providers to deliver public services which will be the envy of people throughout Scotland.”
