Angus Glens Play Host To New Golf Competition
Entries are now being taken for the Carnoustie Country Angus Glens Pairs, an exciting new golfing tournament which will take place on four of the most beautiful Carnoustie Country golf courses from September 15 - September 18.
The Carnoustie Country Angus Glens Pairs will be played on the first-class golf courses at Forfar, Edzell, Brechin and Kirriemuir, with the glens and mountains of Angus forming the perfect backdrop to the tournament.
"This tournament was introduced to the Carnoustie Country calendar to highlight just how good our inland courses are," said Ian Farquhar, Secretary of Edzell Golf Club.
"Carnoustie Country's links courses, such as Carnoustie Championship and Montrose Medal, tend to get all the attention while the inland courses, despite spectacular settings, fantastic course design and excellent playing surfaces are often overlooked by visiting golfers. This tournament, which we hope will become an annual event, is a way of showcasing these hidden gems and introducing golfers to the never-to-be-forgotten delights of playing on the Carnoustie Country inland courses."
The Angus Glens Pairs is a 72-hole Stableford competition and is open to male, female and mixed pairs, with a maximum handicap of 36 for women and 24 for men. There will be daily and overall prizes and, in addition, one gents pair and one ladies pair will gain automatic entry into the International Pairs UK finals in October 2009.
As an added bonus for local golfers, entry to the tournament, which includes a round of golf on each of the four participating courses and the Gala Dinner and prize giving, is now available at the bargain price of £100 per person.
