INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE: Noon, Tuesday 19 August 2008

The following Angus Council services are likely to be disrupted tomorrow (Wednesday 20 August) due to industrial action by Unison, GMB and Unite trade union members in connection with the national pay offer.

The information available at noon today (Tuesday) is as follows:

SCHOOLS, NURSERIES and OUT OF SCHOOL CLUBS

Changes to information issued previously:

Parents should be aware that further disruption is possible in other Angus schools, nurseries and after school clubs but based on the information available to date most are expected to operate as usual.

There may be disruption to the school meals service in some schools, and parents and pupils are asked to ensure they take heed of whatever alerts are flagged up by schools. It is also possible that some schools may have no alternative but to ask parents of some pupils with Additional Support Needs to keep their children at home on Wednesday.

Further information will be issued to parents today (Tuesday 19 August) via the usual means - in school bags and using text/email alerts where available - and updates on disruption to schools will be posted on the council's website at www.angus.gov.uk as information becomes available.

SOCIAL WORK FACILITIES

While there may be some further disruption to social work services, residential care and community meals services will operate as normal as it has been agreed with the trade unions that staff working in these essential services are exempt from strike action.
