New Path Takes Step Forward
A project to create a path for walkers and cyclists between Carnoustie and East Haven has taken a step forward.
At a meeting of Angus Council's Infrastructure Services Committee (26 August) agreed to proceed with the route, subject to negotiations with the relevant landowners being concluded and planning permission being granted.
The committee heard that the proposal is to construct a dedicated off road combined footway/cycleway, approximately 2km long.
Once completed it will provide an important link in the Angus Coastal Path and become part of the Sustrans National Cycle Network and the North Sea Cycle Route.
Infrastructure Services Convener David May said: "The establishment of the Angus coastal path will provide a valuable tourism and recreational asset and the Carnoustie to East Haven section is a significant link. It will also provide an important community asset, allowing the residents of East Haven to walk and cycle to Carnoustie in safety."
