Council To Form Commonwealth Games Steering Group
Angus Council is to set up a group to consider the impact on the area of Glasgow's successful bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games
The Games' shooting event is to be held at Barry Buddon, Carnoustie
A committee comprising elected members and officers will look at local issues for Angus, including identifying opportunities to attract teams or squads to train and compete in the local area.
The committee will also aim to assist with identification and recruitment of volunteers with an interest in sporting opportunities, as well as looking at 'legacy opportunities' for Angus in the wake of both the London Olympics in 2012 and the Commonwealth Games.
The council's neighbourhood services committee agreed at their recent meeting to set up the committee.
