Young Artists Wanted For Multicultural Competition

As the Angus Multicultural week gets underway, artistic youngsters are being urged to create a poster around the themes of the week with prizes up for grabs for the best entries.

The event takes place from 1 - 7 September across the county with an extensive programme of social events and activities planned to give Angus' diverse cultural communities - Scots, eastern Europeans, Chinese etc - the opportunity to find out more about each other through a wide range of family based activities.

There is something for everyone, from belly dancing to food tasting, painting to language taster sessions, and environmental projects to international music.

As part of the celebrations, there will also be an opportunity for children to illustrate what the international community and other cultures in Angus mean to them by creating an eye catching poster - and possibly pick up a prize in the process.

All they need to do is create a poster on a sheet of A4, and send it to Doreen Phillips, Equalities Officer, Angus Council, Chief Executive's Dept, Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar DD8 1AX, by Friday 5 September.

There will be four age groups, four to six years, seven to ten years, 11 to 14 years and 14 years and over, with a £15 gift voucher up for grabs for each winner so remember to add your name, age and contact details.

The winners will be announced at the finale of the week - a multicultural fun day in the Reid Hall on Sunday 7 September from 12 noon to 4pm when a selection of the entries will also be displayed.
