Care Accolades Win For Social Work And Health
Angus Council Social Work and Health won the Investing in the Workforce category at the prestigious Scottish Social Services Council Care Accolades ceremony, held in Perth on Friday 22 June. The award recognised the work of the successful learning disability SVQ programme which is run in partnership with other council services and with Angus College.
Convener of Social Work and Health, Councillor Glennis Middleton, who attended the ceremony said: “I am delighted that the work of our staff has been recognised in this well-deserved award. Everyone involved in the ongoing success of the SVQ Assessment Centre is to be congratulated.”
The convener added: “By working with a range of partners in innovative ways, we have been able increase the number of assessors and therefore increase the number of staff gaining SVQ’s. Using peer assessors has been a challenging process, but has led to improved professional development for the assessors as well as the staff being assessed.
“We have a long-standing commitment to developing the learning disabilities staff group in Angus Council, which is bringing ongoing improvements to the quality of services that we deliver.”
