Entries are now open for the Angus Ambassador Awards 2012 – the annual celebration of the very best of Angus.

This is the 14th year of these prestigious awards, which are presented to the people, businesses and organisations of Angus who have enhanced the county’s reputation as a first class destination for enterprise, tourism and culture – and as a wonderful place to live!

The Angus Ambassadors Awards are organised by Angus Ahead, the county’s marketing campaign, and the winners are selected by a panel of judges, including several previous Angus Ambassador winners. There are six categories and the awards will be presented to the worthy winners at a glittering ceremony on November 23, when the Angus Ambassador of the Year 2012, will also be announced.

At last year’s award ceremony, Paul Grant MBE, chairman of Mackays, Arbroath’s highly-successful preserves and marmalades manufacturer, was named Angus Ambassador of the Year of 2011. “I was incredibly surprised and very honoured to be presented with such an accolade,” said Paul. “These awards are a true celebration of the strengths of Angus and have so much kudos with the people of Angus. For months afterwards, everywhere I went in Angus, people congratulated me on being the Angus Ambassador of the Year 2011.”

Applications are open to anyone in Angus or any Angus business or organisation who has promoted the county locally, nationally or internationally, and applications can also be entered on behalf of a person, organisation or business. “The Angus Ambassador Awards are about celebrating the achievements and successes of the people, organisations and business of Angus,” said the Provost of Angus, Helen Oswald.

“So many wonderful things happen across our county every year which deserve recognition and congratulations – and this is the opportunity to do just that.”

The six categories in the 2012 Angus Ambassador Awards are:
