Group Plans For Monifieth’s Future

Around 50 community-spirited volunteers met in the Panmure Hotel last Thursday evening (30 August) to plan the way forward for Monifieth. More than 20 Monifieth groups were represented at the event, as were Angus Council, Tayside Police and Tayside Fire and Rescue. The attendees were updated on the good work being done by the Monifieth Community Resource Group, Monifieth Eco Force, Monifieth Children’s and Learning Partnership and Monifieth Town Promotion Group. These areas had all been identified as priorities for the town at previous M Factor community planning events during the past four years.

Peter Burke, Carnoustie Development Group, gave an informative talk on the benefits of partnership working between community groups and service providers. One of the key outcomes of the evening was a commitment from those in the room to look at working collaboratively to drive plans for Monifieth forward, by means of a network forum.

This proposed forum will be a network for Monifieth groups, to promote the town and attract funding for projects in Monifieth and will have strength in numbers. The forum will be a resource of shared experience, knowledge and skills that can take forward both Monifieth and individual groups within the community.

If you, your organisation or business, would like to be part of this new network in Monifieth, then please contact the local community planning team on 01241 803562 or email monifiethlcpt@angus.gov.uk.
