Wellington Gardens Survey Results

Angus Council is to consult Montrose residents regarding the removal of car parking in Wellington Gardens.

This follows a survey by the Roads Department to gauge car parking demand and availability in the area as part of the Mid Links restoration project.

A meeting of the Recreation and Cultural Services Committee on Thursday 31 May, heard that the analysis concluded that there is sufficient spare capacity of 63 parking spaces in the adjacent streets to allow the car parks to be removed at Wellington Gardens.

To progress the Mid Links project, the council will now submit a Notice of Intention to Development which will allow local people to express their views on the subject.

Convener of Recreation Services Ian Angus said: "The Mid Links restoration funding offer from the Heritage Lottery Fund requires to be progressed. As part of this process, it is a requirement to obtain planning permission for the project and to also consult the wider public on the proposals relating to the removal of car parking at Wellington Gardens. Submitting the proposals for Notice of Intention to Develop enables to council to fulfil both these requirements."
