Sheltered Housing For Montrose
Angus Council has approved the development of an innovative sheltered housing project in Montrose.
The authority has joined forces with the Angus Community Care Charitable Trust, NHS Tayside and Communities Scotland to develop sheltered housing plus at Provost Johnston Road.
The aim of sheltered housing plus is to develop housing and ancillary accommodation which enable older people to remain in their own homes for life.
A meeting of the council’s housing committee (Tuesday 6 November) heard that such developments also allow the authority to provide a realistic alternative to residential and nursing home care.
Housing Convener Frank Ellis said he was delighted that Angus Council was to work in partnership to develop Provost Johnston Road.
“This project shows a commitment to improve and expand the role of existing sheltered housing in Angus. Indeed adapting the theme of sheltered housing plus is an enhancement to our commitment to providing a real alternative to residential and nursing home care,” said Councillor Ellis.
“It is with great credit to our council officers and our partners that we have a firm proposal to consider today. In terms of the public pound by pooling our resources with our partners, we will achieve best value not only for the council but indeed for our partners.”
