Achievement Galore!

Nineteen finalists have been announced for the 2001 Angus Achievers Awards, presented by the Angus Ahead campaign to promote the talents, skills and enterprise of the county.

The shortlisted nominees come from across Angus, with entrants in four new categories now lined up with those in the closely contested Community and Sports sections.

The 2001 Achievers Awards have produced a diverse portfolio of outstanding Angus accomplishment, which includes chefs, film producers, cyber surfers, golfers, chocolate makers and online castles.

The stars of 2001 will be celebrated at the Gala Award Ceremony on St Andrews Night (30 November) when the winners of the six awards will be announced.

The Provost of Angus Mrs Frances Duncan offered her congratulations to each of the finalists. "With 142 entries for this year's awards it has been an extremely difficult task to pick our finalists.

"Indeed the competition in the business export category was so fierce, the judges found it impossible to narrow it down to just three finalists, so we are delighted to have four of Angus' leading exporters competing for that award.

"We'll have to wait until the Award Ceremony on Friday to discover who the six category winners are but I would commend each and every one of our 142 nominees on their achievements and for their commitment to Angus."
