£408,000 Village Hall Improvements

Over £408,000 of improvements have been made to village halls in Angus since 1998.

Angus Council has contributed almost 30% of this amount working in association with the Angus Federation of Village Halls, individual village hall committees and Angus Access Panel to refurbish and modernise village halls across the county.

Speaking at the Council’s Policy & Resources Committee convener Rob Murray said it was a tribute to the partnership approach that such significant investment and improvements had been achieved.

"By working together it has been possible to refurbish 30 village halls throughout the county, including the addition of access for people with disabilities.

"As a result we are now seeing increased usage of these important community resources. The council will be talking further with communities regarding the possibilities for using the facilities as bases from which to deliver council services to rural areas.

Councillor Murray concluded by saying:

"The latest round of hall improvements concern Kingoldrum, Kilry and Tarfside village halls and the council has decided to allocate £7,500 to support their plans."

Angus Council has allocated £3,000 towards the installation of double glazing at Kingoldrum village hall. £3,000 has been allocated to Kilry Village Hall for the modernisation of the kitchen with £3,000 to Tarfside, giving a total allocation of £7,500 (£1,895 recoverable from EU).
