Montrose Town Partnership

The plan to promote Montrose as a retail and tourist centre is progressing.

Over the past few months organisations including the Montrose Society, the chamber of commerce, the business and retailers association, the community council, and Angus Council have met and considered a number of practical measures to put in place during 2002, with the aim of attracting more visitors to the town.

The organisations have decided to set up a Montrose Town Partnership to provide a focus for ideas and plan to produce a promotional leaflet listing all of the facilities and attractions for visitors to Montrose.

The partnership is also preparing a broader strategy to attract additional visitors to Montrose, including proposals for a regular street market in the town centre as a further attraction.

The partners have agreed to concentrate on two or three achievable aims in the short term and encourage others to get on board to establish a more robust partnership to help support the general economy of the town in the longer term.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the partnership should call Bill Strachan at Angus Council on 01307 461460.
