Virtual Youth
Guests were given a sneak preview of the new Dialogue Youth online magazine initiative on Thursday 6 December.
Young people from across Angus hosted the evening along with Councillor Glennis Middleton and took their invited guests through their electronic paces.
The local MPs and MSPs joined representatives from the national Young Scot scheme at the first of three introductory evenings at the new No1 for Youth premises, which from January will offer both online and on-site information for young people across the county.
Angus is leading the way with the Dialogue Youth project, which was funded by the Modernising Government Fund as part of a national pilot. Of the three participating councils Angus is the first to go online.
Councillor Middleton said the project was an extremely exciting one to be involved with:
"The shop front premises are only a very small part of the equation. Dialogue Youth offers virtual premises, which will be online to young people across the county, providing information and advice on a huge range of subjects selected by the young people themselves.
"Angus Dialogue Youth is encouraging our younger citizens to take an active role in both their own development and that of their communities. It will be accessible to young people from libraries, community centres or their own bedrooms - in fact anywhere there is a PC."
Councillor Middleton concluded by paying tribute to the work of the young people involved.
"Without the enthusiasm and commitment of a whole host of young people the project could not have got this far and it's now up to them how the initiative takes shape and progresses. There is tremendous scope for any local young people to get involved and because of the technology distance needn't prevent people from taking part."

No1 for Youth's shop front premises will open for business in January, initially for two nights per week and on Saturday mornings.
