Commitment To Regeneration Welcomed
Angus Council’s Convener of Housing Frank Ellis has welcomed the first steps towards a new look Cliffburn estate in Arbroath.
In particular Councillor Ellis welcomed the financial commitment to the project from the council’s partners and the appointment of consultants to take the project forward.
Angus Council, Communities Scotland and Angus Housing Association are funding the appointment of consultants Dearle and Henderson.
Their remit is to undertake an option appraisal for the regeneration of the Cliffburn encompassing accommodation, environment, health and economic development.
Councillor Ellis said: “I am delighted that Angus Council in partnership with Communities Scotland and Angus Housing Association, are now in a position to take this project to the next stage. The council and its partners will now work closely with the local community to come up with options to transform Cliffburn into a vibrant and popular place to live.”
Councillor Ellis revealed that the consultation process will start within the next few weeks and he encouraged local people to get involved and set out their views for the future of the area.
“Sustainable and meaningful regeneration can only be achieved if local community involvement exists from the outset and it is vital that we engage as many local people in this process as possible,” added Councillor Ellis.
