FOUR new champions have added their support to Angus Ahead, the promotional campaign for the county.
The new recruits join the Champions Committee established last year to help raise awareness of the county's many attractions on a local, national and international level.
The Committee of Champions comprises local people from all walks of life who are involved in areas such as the arts, the voluntary sector, tourism and business.
The new champions are:
* Barbara Lovegrove, a Kirriemuir based partner with Blackadders Solicitors and keen supporter of the campaign
* Andrew Lauchlan, Managing Director, J M Henderson & Son Ltd, Arbroath. JM Henderson & Sons were the 2002 winners of the Angus Ambassador Business Award in recognition of their extensive and successful marketing activities at home and overseas
* Christine Kydd, is an artiste, promoting and performing traditional Angus music
* Alisdair MacCallum, the current chairman of Montrose Ports Authority is the former chief of Don & Low and long time Angus resident.
The new champions were brought up to date with the campaign's current activities during an informal lunch with Provost of Angus Mrs Frances Duncan at Chapelbank House Hotel in Forfar.
"As prominent leaders in the Angus business and arts communities, these new Angus champions bring a wealth of personal experience as well as expert knowledge of their own fields of interest," said Mrs Duncan.
"The participation of the champions is driving forward the work already being done to increase investment in Angus and to maximise the tourism and heritage potential of the county."
