Carnoustie Heading Towards Partnership

The formation of a Carnoustie Partnership is the topic for discussion at a public meeting in the town next week (Thursday 12 June).

The purpose of the meeting is to explore the benefits of partnership working and outline the proposals for a Carnoustie Partnership agreement.

Anyone who has views on the future development of Carnoustie and wants to find out more about joining a partnership is encouraged to go along to the meeting. The purpose of the evening is to agree the formation of a Carnoustie Partnership and have it formally constituted.

The idea of a Carnoustie Partnership already has local support. At a meeting last month, held at the instigation of local community groups, representatives of the town's community council, business association, golf links management committee and Angus Council had a positive discussion about the possible formation of a Carnoustie Partnership.

The group highlighted key issues for a partnership to work towards, including the development of a vibrant heritage, cultural and visitor economy within Carnoustie. Developing initiatives within the town, which compliment the existing assets of the area, is one of a range of aims which the group feels it is important to pursue from the outset.

Chairperson of Carnoustie Community Council, Sue McMahon said: "The partnership approach is an effective way of dealing with local Carnoustie issues at a local level, bringing together community organisations, local businesses, local attractions and public organisations all working positively towards the future prosperity of Carnoustie. I would encourage all those who wish to contribute to the development of Carnoustie to attend the meeting and become involved with the partnership."

The public meeting will take place at the Burgh Chambers in the High Street from 7.30pm on Thursday 12 June.
