Angus Triathlon Miles Ahead
For the third successive year top triathletes from across the UK are gathering at Monikie Country Park in Angus to compete in the Scottish Triathlon Association's Scottish Championships.
The Monikie Triathlon takes place on Saturday (12 July) with the field for this hotly contested event under starters orders at mid-day.
The triathlon is a popular event with the Scottish Championship taking place at Monikie on four occasions over the years. It is now considered one of the top events on the Scottish Triathlon Association race calendar and attracts competitors from all over Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.
Monikie provides an ideal venue for this challenging sporting event. Starting with a 1500m swim around Island Pond reservoir in Monikie Country Park, the competitors then have to cycle 40km around a two-lap course on the country roads close to Monikie. Their final test is a 10km run on woodland trails and country roads before crossing the finishing line back in the park.
An excellent day of sporting entertainment is on the cards and spectators are invited along to support the competitors in their quest for the champion's title.
