Forfar Memories Sought
In October the Meffan is staging an exhibition to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of Forfar's greatest sons Peter Reid.
Born in 1803, Peter Reid owned his own confectionery business and his Forfar Rock was famous throughout Britain.
His two most generous gifts to the town, the Reid Hall and Reid Park are still loved and used by Forfarians and visitors today.
The Meffan is appealing to the public for any objects or mementoes relating to Peter Reid, which they would be willing to loan to the museum for display during the exhibition.
We are also interested in hearing about people's memories of the Reid Hall and Reid Park. Do you remember the first time you visited the park as a child? Or were you one of many who enjoyed punk concerts at the Reid Hall?
If you can help in anyway, the Meffan would be delighted to hear from you. Please phone (01307) 464123 or call in to the museum.
