Community Care Services Plan
A three year plan for the development of Community Care Services in Angus has been agreed by Angus Council (Social Work & Health Committee 20 November 2003).
The Angus Community Care Plan is a joint plan between the council and NHS Tayside and sets out a range of priorities and intended actions for the development of care services for people with a wide range of support needs.
Social Work & Health convener Glennis Middleton said:
“Service users and carers have been fully involved in the development of this, the second, full Community Care Plan for Angus.
“Community care services play a crucial role in helping vulnerable people in Angus have good quality lives in their own homes and communities.
“The broad range of services provide support to people affected by problems of ageing, illness, disability or addiction. This includes carers, who themselves give substantial care and support to relatives and friends.
“People working in health, social work and voluntary organisations are involved in the provision of this care and this is reflected in the joint plan.”
Councillor Middleton said it was important that people were given the help they needed to live as normal a life as possible at home or in a homely environment in the community. “Services are being developed in such a way as to provide the right amount of care and support to help people live as independently as possible. We also want to make sure that people in need of care have a greater say in how they chose to live their lives and in how services for them are delivered and developed.
“We will be monitoring the plan carefully to make sure that we deliver on the actions identified, as their development is crucial for Angus residents who rely on these services.”
