Monifieth Coastal Protection Work Complete

The coastal protection work at Tayview Caravan Park in Monifieth has been completed.

Work started on site back in August and AWG Construction Services, the contractors appointed by Angus Council, completed the works within the contract period on 7 November.

A revetment has now been constructed along with rock groynes to allow the sand to build up along the foreshore.

Cyclist and walkers can now make their way along the entire beachfront as a shared used footpath and cycleway has been constructed along the top of the revetment, connecting the new seafront development to the footpath from the railway footbridge at the west end of the beach.

A new slipway access on to the beach has also been created at the west end of the site, as well as a new stepped access on to the beach at the east end of the site.

Grass seeding and planting works are due to be carried out on site early next year.
